Darcy Mann was born in Vancouver, Canada. She received a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design in Halifax, and an MFA from Texas A&M University. During her Masters program, she spent a semester as an artist-in-residence in Mitzpe Ramon, Israel through HILAI. In 1990 she moved to New York, and was part of the first wave of artists that pioneered Williamsburg, Brooklyn. She spent the next fourteen years living and working in Williamsburg where she was involved in many of the early art events that turned that neighbourhood into an art world mecca. Mann moved back to Vancouver with her family in 2003. She shares a studio with her husband, sculptor and writer, Dion Kliner.
Mann has exhibited in Canada and the United States, and is a past recipient of a Pollock-Krasner Award. Her work has been reviewed in The New York Times, NY Newsday, and most recently at twocoatsofpaint.com.
